Between Myth, History, and individual experience –in that incandescent region the poetry of Shara McCallum is found. The breath of the mythic crystallizes in characters that call us from eras so remote, that they have managed to become present again. Simultaneously, in them sounds the harsh timbre of History, urgent and ravenous. And lastly, in these poems it is made palpable the immediacy, the intimacy of the personal account. With registers that are cast together in a chorus, a single horizon of meaning, McCallum’s work invites us to experience our life beyond itself, transformed by its echoes, rewritten once and again by the obsessive calligraphy of Time.
